• Do I need to register my child to ride a bus?

    Posted by:

Buses run their entire route in the first week of school. Students on the route who are standing at a stop will be picked up and taken to school. The route may be adjusted after the first week if no students need to be picked up at a particular stop. If your child did not ride a bus during the first week of school, please contact the Transportation Department at 501-796-8160 to make sure your child is picked up. If your child needs to be picked up at an address other than at his/her normal stop, please call the Transportation Department.

  • What time should my child be at the bus stop in the mornings?

    Posted by:

Each bus driver has a designated time to start his/her route.  Due to traffic and other issues, bus pick-up times are not exact.  Your student must be at the bus stop at least 10 minutes before his/her "normal" pick-up time.  Students should be ready to board the bus when it arrives. Any delays might make an entire bus late. Students must wait for the bus to come to a complete stop, the door opens and the bus driver has motioned for the student to board the bus. Please note that actual bus arrival times will vary during the first few weeks of school. We ask parents to be patient as bus routes are established. Also, unexpected traffic congestion or bus mechanical breakdowns could also cause delays in arrival times. If your child’s bus is considerably delayed, please contact the Transportation Department at 501-796-8160.

  • Why are buses delayed at the beginning of the school year?

    Posted by:

Bus routes are delayed at the beginning of the school year due to students transitioning to new schools and new buses. Also, delays can occur when new routes are provided for the driver. Traffic, construction, and other factors outside of the driver’s control can cause delays. We ask parents to be patient as bus routes are established.

  • We have moved or I need to change my child’s address for bus service. How do I do this?

    Posted by:

If your family has moved or you have a change of address in your child’s drop-off, you will need to notify your child's school office.  Bus drivers will not take a child to an address different from their normal routine without a signed note from a school office staff member.

  • Why can't you notify parents when you know the bus will be late?

    Posted by:

There are as many as 77 students assigned to each school bus. That would be as many as 77 phone calls to make to parents in a short period of time. Please note that sometimes mechanical breakdowns, traffic, weather conditions, and accidents happen while our buses are on their routes. We will do everything we can to transport your child to and from school in a timely manner, but sometimes delays are unavoidable.  Feel free to contact the Transportation Department if you become concerned.

Students are not marked tardy if their school bus arrives late to school. Our goal each day is to transport students safely and to get them to school on time for instruction.

  • Can I get on the bus to talk to my child’s bus driver?

    Posted by:

State laws prohibit parents or other adults from interfering with the operation of a school bus by boarding a bus, restricting movement, or using physical or verbal threats to the driver or any passenger while the bus is engaged in the transportation of students to and from school or any lawful school activity. This also includes while students are boarding, leaving, or waiting for the bus. If you need to get a message to a bus driver, please contact the Transportation Office at 501-796-8160.

  • Who do I call if I have concerns with student behavior on the school bus?

    Posted by:

Bus drivers report discipline problems through bus conduct software.  The Transportation Assistant Director reviews all incident reports. Incidents that need disciplinary action are immediately forwarded to the appropriate school administrator.  The Transportation Director will provide bus camera video ONLY to the administrator or law enforcement officer upon his/her request.  You may call the Transportation Department with concerns, but please understand that the Transportation Director does not administer student discipline.  Contact your child's school principal or assistant principal with a concern that needs to be addressed concerning student discipline.

  • If my child left something on the bus, how do we retrieve these items?

    Posted by:

Drivers check their buses after each run. Drivers will return identified items to the child on the next run.  All unidentified items found on the bus are turned in to the Transportation Office.  Please make sure your child’s name is marked on all items taken to school.
